One of the most discussed breeds of cats is the Bombay cats. In some countries, they are considered lucky, and there are several places that have a notion just the opposite of it. In some parts of the world, they are popular by the name of British Bombay cats, and as American Bombay cats in other places. Again, in France this breed is known as Matagot, which means a magician cat. In France, a black Bombay cat is considered a harbinger of fame and fortune for the family that keeps it. Thus, it can be seen that so many beliefs are related with these Bombay cats.
The variation of names and concepts in fact depends upon the breed of the cats. Nevertheless, they are one of the most popular breeds of cats all over the world. They look stunning with their black sleek body. They are Asian breeds of black cats. They generally originate from Burma having pitch-black fur all over their bodies, especially at their toes and nose. One more striking feature about the Bombay cats is their mysterious green eyes.
Bombay cats are generally strong and muscular in their built and at the same time are a bit ferocious in nature when compared with other feline categories. Their heads are typically round and wide. A short tapered muzzle is another interesting feature of this cat. Of course, the most striking feature of these cats is their very unusual types of eyes that are generally golden or copper in color. Equally peculiar is their big wide ears that are slightly rounded like the eyes. In most cases, Bombay cats have coats that shine like silk and are tightly attached with the body.
These Bombay cats are generally domestic and playful in nature. They are rather calm in nature but at times, they can also be ferocious. As a friendly cat it is quite adjustable and can stand dogs better rather than its fellow cats. This is so because the Bombay cats tend to establish their supremacy in their households. Bombay cats are famous for being intelligent. They are also fond of various kinds of games. One funny fact that may surprise you is their habit of slipping under the bed covers. As far as their sexual maturity is concerned, it is a bit early so the owners should be aware of their breeding time.
It is not at all difficult to take proper care of the Bombay cats. Generally, they have a strong appetite and there is the slightest chance of their being overweight. In this connection, low calorie diet foods and high quality dry food can maintain the perfect nutrition for the Bombay cats. Generally, grooming is not needed for this type of breed, but a hairbrush can make it splendid all the time. There are the natural oils for a shining luster of the skin. Despite the fact that they do not need grooming, they are often taken for the cat shows. Thus, if you are planning to bring a cat at home, then Bombay cats will not be a bad idea.
