Cats are not really social creatures. It would not be practical to get another cat simply because your cat is meowing a lot. You would probably be better getting the cat a catnip toy. And if the cat has been spayed it probably has other issues.

Cats know when ones they love aren’t around anymore. I have noticed that. I would say get her a friend. But the best way to get an animal is to adopt. Get another lonely cat.. and one that needs a home! I think you, your female cat, and the adoptee would be very happy in the end!

cat’s are extremely pinicky so if you do decide to get one make sure you ease the new kitten in with her. i have 13 cats and most of them get along. i do have some that are just to mean to other cats.

even thou they say cats are “solitary” i think the ones i have are better off because they have someone to play with. at dusk hour i go out side and about 9 cats are out there hopping around and chasing each other. so if you can handle another cat i would get one.

You didn’t say how old your cat is. If she is over 5 yrs , it might be best to get a older male cat. Other wise get a male kitten. Cats can grieve Give her plenty attention and play with her.

Yes, I think you should get a kitten for the sake of your other cat. She is wondering where he is. Its sad for all. I am sorry for your loss.

IT WILL TAKE TIME for your cat to adjust to another cat coming into your home, but I would suggest a kitten. Your cat will know he/she is a baby and its amazing how close they will become. It just takes time.

I recently got a female kitten for my other 4 year old female cat. I have 2 small dogs and i felt my cat needed another feline.
It took about 1-2 months for my cat to adjust to her but they are inseperable now and my cat thinks she’s her mother.. PS my little dogs just love our new addition. They roll around with her and nuzzle her. Its so cute. All is good. I think you should go for it!

    Good luck to you.

Yes that’s right idea!! , As we would be alone! They also feel alone. Find out good Cat to give her company.
    Very good decision

Yes. Cats can indeed mourn the loss of a long time partner. They are a lot more intelligent than people give them credit for and this is an earmark of high intelligence.

Domesticated cats are naturally very social creatures. Of course you will have to go through the break in period of hissing and yowling and all that business but that is almost always over with in a month or so. Often sooner.

Before you go anywhere else try the animal shelter kennel. Often there are great pets to be had in there and you could actually be saving the kitties life as shelters simply can’t keep all the animals that come in so they will try their best to place an animal in a home but if nothing happens in a specific amount of time the animal must be euthanized. My local shelter will even give you a certificate for a spay or neuter half price. Such a deal!

    Good luck and,

    Meow!

Definitely. Adopt from a shelter, that way you provide a lonely cat with another lonely cat, everybody wins.

I had 2 sister cats and one died. 2 years later she’s still not over it and she meows all the time. We have another kind of stray cat around our house and my cat really has a good time with her. At first all cats will fight, but after about 3 weeks they usually learn to be friends is my experience. (Plus my cat is really UNsocial)

I think it is a great idea, spare a cat from an unfortunate fate. Since your cat is used to having another cat around, I think it would not hurt to have another cat.
