Cat Kitten Feline
jessica_and_jay8883 asked:

No ferret food because we are splitting the cost of food with the kitten that way we dont have to buy 2 kinds of food. Here is the bottom line of the problem. I would prefer it have NO FISH WHATSOVER. But if it does then i guess it would be ok as long as it isn’t listed in the first 6 ingredients. Also the same thing with corn. Grain free food would work best but again as long as it isn’t in the first 6 ingredients that works. I have it tallied up between a few of these. Innova EVO for kittens/ Cats, Natural balance ultra premium cat, Sensible Choice kitten, Holistic blend all life stages cat, Prairie Brand chicken and rice medly feline by natures recipe. Any other suggestions would be great. I would like to by at local petstore instead of online. please help
i feel sorry for you stupid people who don’t realize it is all about the ingredients. and obviously when the kitten becomes adult i am going to feed her adult food. Also they make cat/ kitten blends. Why do you people even both answering the question if your not going to actually answer it and just critisize me, Just leave the question open for the other people to awnser
I wont feed generic or cat food but i am going to use chicken soup for the kitten lover’s soul.

kitten food is specially made for kittens, not ferrets. that why they make ferret food.
They have different nutritional values which is why you have to have the proper diet for them..
You can buy a big bag of kitten food( good for 3 months before you run out ) and the same with ferret food.. that way the cost is down to once every there months or so..

**why are you being so immature??..it’s obviously the better way to go by feeding the animals the proper diet, in the first place to insure they are healthy. so why Be ignorant and rude, when people are giving you advice like you asked for?? sounds to me like you need to read up on both species of pets.. and BTW.. a ferret can and could kill a kitten..

What are you going to do when the kitten turns into a Cat and needs adult cat food?
While ferrets can live on kitten food, you’re going to find that they do much better with food specifically formulated for ferrets.
You’ll be using the same amount of food either way, you’ll just have two bags instead of one. Feed ferret food

it is called kitten food for a reason… it is not for ferrets… cat and dog food do not have the nutrition a ferret needs.. it doesn’t make sense that you are buying only one type of food to lessen the cost because you will go through it twice as fast.. you should just buy both types (ferret and kitten).. cat food does not have enough protein in it for ferrets.
    –i own a ferret.

I would not recommend a kitten chow because a ferret’s nutritional requirements are different from a kitten. In the long term, the ferret may develop health problems if its diet is not right. Veterinarians are starting to recommend that ferrets eat live prey because they are carnivores; next choice is for raw freeze-dried or frozen food. The 3rd choice seems to be a dry processed ferret food. If you are trying to save on costs, I would recommend the dry food and perhaps purchase meat for your ferret once in a while. Zupreem is a good quality brand for ferret (and other exotic) food. If you buy in bulk (30lb bag), you can save money that way. These may not be available in a pet store but there’s lots of sources online and I’m sure at least one has low shipping costs.

My parents fed their ferret cat food and he lived until he was 11 years old, we fed our ferret only ferret food she lived until 7 years old. I doubt feeding your ferret cat food will effect it. My parents fed theirs “special kitty”
